Cork is harvested about every four years without having to kill trees. It is peeled off the tree and the tree can re-grow it again. It is available in about 20 different colors. It is flexible under foot, adding a little bit of a cushion.
Bamboo is also harvested avery few years. It is not a tree, and it grows extremely fast. It is available in natural (light color) and caramelized (brownish color). It is also available in horizontal grain, where you can see the nodes, or in vertical grain, where the nodes are not visible. It is extremely hard (18% harder than maple).
